Oak Grove Methodist Church

Mount Pleasant, North Carolina 28124

Located near the Stanly-Cabarrus County line and between the communities of Finger and Mission, Oak Grove exemplifies the rural church built to serve the rural areas of the county. The church was built in 1885 and then remodel in 1935 -- at which time a steeple was added to the structure.

Organized in 1848, this brick sanctuary was built in 1938 on land donated to the church by Jonah and Mary Love.

Morgan Memorial Church

Morgan Memorial is located off of NC Highway 200 South in the southwestern part of the county near the town of Stanfield and stands on a hill overlooking the Rocky River. This plain, wood-framed structure was built in 1884 by the descendants of Drury Morgan and has served as a house of worship for Baptist, Lutheran, and Presbyterian congregations.

St. Martin's Lutheran Church
16592 St. Martin Road
Albemarle, North Carolina 28001

St. Martin's is one of the oldest Lutheran congregations in Stanly County. This photo is believed to be one of the the sanctuary that was in use from 1860 until 1908; the image depicts a simple gable-front church with two entrances.
