Reading Lists: American Historical Fiction

Table of Contents

Arranged in chronological order, the novels on this list have a wide range of reading levels. Most of these books are for children in grades 4 -6. Some may be more appropriate for grades 5 and up. However, many of these stories would be fine read-alouds for the entire family, preschoolers included. Click on the time period in which you are interested, or, ask a teacher or library staff member for suggestions! This bibliography is so large now, that we're working on splitting this list in two--a 2"nd-5th grade" list and a "young adult" list.
